Virtual Production at Humber College

A Collaboration in the Faculty of Media & Creative Arts between
Film & Multi-Platform Storytelling (FMST) + Game Programming (GAME)

"Humber's MADE IN-ENGINE project reveals how new storytelling technologies, explored and embraced in a spirit of co-creation, can expand the vocabulary and potential of filmmaking. It's great to see a cross-disciplinary approach connecting social issue content with great design, music and emotion."

"I learned about Unreal Engine and also that you don’t have to shoot a film physically as there are other ways to tell a story. I’m proud of what my team and I did, I’ve had this story in my heart for a while now & I’m really happy to have the opportunity and medium to tell it with the help of James Del Pilar & Nelli Kharshina. This project is so special to me because it’s my first project created with Unreal Engine. I hope to show this one minute short film to the world and help people that are grieving in any way."

"I did not have prior film experience so this program helped me explore different areas like storyboard, shot list, breaking down the script which I wasn’t aware of. I was in India whereas my group members (Game students) were in Canada and Unreal Engine turned the impossible into possible by presenting us an opportunity to have this filmed virtually. I am very proud the way my project turned out, despite all the obstacles we faced during filming. Here I would like to give credit to my professor Eva who was always there as a constant support."

"I took this idea from my son's experience, coming to Canada from a different country and culture and not understanding the language at school was frustrating. The first days for him were crying but little by little, he was adapting and understanding everything. He was happy because he feels helped by the support of the community, his classmates and everything around him. The film leaves the message, IN EVERY STEP YOU TAKE, WE WILL BE WITH YOU. I want to be able to release more episodes with similar stories."
